Progress report on delivery of HMIE Gaelic Language Plan

We have published our latest progress report on the delivery of His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education’s Gaelic Language Plan.

The report highlights the actions taken over the past year to support Gaelic education and promote the use of the Gaelic language through our work. It reflects ongoing commitment across the organisation to embedding Gaelic within inspection activity and engagement with stakeholders.

Progress includes:

• continued support for Gaelic Medium Education
• the use of Gaelic within inspection work where appropriate
• publishing a comprehensive report evaluating the quality of Gaelic Education
• sharing highly effective practice on Gaelic
• strengthened engagement with Gaelic-speaking communities and partners

The report also reflects on areas where further development is required and helps inform the next phase of our work as we begin to develop a new Gaelic Language Plan beyond 2027.
