Effective partnerships

Senior leaders provide strong direction for fostering and maintaining partnership working. Engagement and communication between schools and their partners should:

• be regular, structured and supportive
• use a range of approaches to involve all partners in developing and embedding an anti-bullying culture
• be shaped by a clear understanding of the school’s current context
• increase awareness of current policy and practice
• ensure a coherent, whole school approach to reducing bullying
• build positive relationships, promote good behaviour and create a sense of security and trust

Good leadership at all levels can help the school community turn their shared vision into a sustainable reality.

As a result, children and young people feel included. They have a sense of belonging and show respect for their peers and adults. In these schools, incidents of bullying are rare.

All stakeholders should know how and why the school monitors and evaluates incidents of bullying. This is an integral aspect of the school’s approach to supporting the wellbeing of all learners.
